Plexus

Plexus, 2024, presents a close-up of glossy, wavy hair, continuing her series which focuses on tight frames of wigs. The print explores light and texture, subtly suggesting the human form while transforming familiar details into something more abstract.

She explains: "My works are about trying to tap into the idea of slow looking. There are paintings which engineer a kind of faster looking — where you can tell the artist is really trying to create a narrative. I resist that at all times. I try to be much more oblique and mysterious, and give as little information as possible." 

The image reflects the artist's interest in the sacred and the profane, and reveals the uncanny interplay between representation and materiality.
